It is a question we’ve heard time and time again: “What FiveFingers should I wear when its cold or wet outside?”. Unfortunately, to-date, we haven’t really had a solid answer.
This all changed last month when Vibram announced the FiveFinger Lontra at Outdoor Retailer. The Lontra is a new VFF model that has a micropile fleece liner, a water-resistant laminated upper, and a neoprene collar that provides a seal around the ankle.
Its the first water-resistant FiveFinger to ever go to market. So we’re finally answering that big question all of our users have asked for a long time, “How do I keep my foot warm in cold weather”.
These are coming out on August 1, 2012. Are you planning on buying a pair?
OMG Im so happy!!!
I’m really excited about this since my feet FREEZE in my 5’s even at the November Thanksgiving Day race. HOWEVER, WHY OH WHY do they ALWAYS have to make the women’s version PINK!! Seriously, I don’t like to wear pink, I like the men’s colors better!!!
You’re so right Angela! No pink for women! We want cool colors too!!
That being said, I do want to get a pair of Lontra’s.
I wonder what’s next? Everyone asks what the high-heeled shoes? :)
Oh Yeah!
Being a Seattlite, I’ve been fiending for something like these for ages. I’m gettin’ a pair!
So where are they? Supposed to be released Aug 1 2012? Can’t find anyone who sells them. It’s already getting chilly in upstate NY.
God, when will they come out with a women’s version that doesn’t look like a Claire’s threw up? I would love to wear VFFs all winter, but the Men’s sizes are too big for me and I am not putting those pastel monstrosities on my feet.
LEAKING AFTER TWO MONTHS OF USE!!!
I’ve used them mainly for asphalt-bike path dog-walking and recently they started leaking. I mean, seriously, my socks and feet are wet from just dew on the grass or accidental step into a puddle. I love VFFs and waited anxiously for Lontras, but it seems to be a mistake and disappointment. Ridiculously priced short-lived performance. With water resistance no better than your sneakers, it misses the point, misleads and doesn’t deliver.
Contacted TravelCountry (they had them early), but they refuse to help claiming that they don’t mention water resistance on their website, despite this quote: “helping to resist water and snow”.
I’m curious how VFF will address this leaky issue.
Fair points, did you try contacting Vibram directly? http://www.vibram.com/index.php/us/CONTACT-US/Contacts
